On 26 January 2026, the Notification of the Exchange Control Officer, prescribing rules and conditions governing the purchase and sale of gold, both domestically and internationally.
Buyers or sellers of gold who import or export gold, whose average total value of domestic gold trading over the preceding five calendar years equals or exceeds THB 10 billion per annum, or an equivalent amount calculated based on prevailing market exchange rates, shall be subject to the following requirements:
- Reports on information relating to gold trading transactions shall be submitted in accordance with the forms, procedures, and timelines prescribed by the competent officers, as published on the Bank of Thailand’s website or through the Bank of Thailand’s electronic systems, unless otherwise prescribed by the competent officers
- Ensure that such reporting is accurate and complete and retain the relevant data and support documents relating to gold trading transactions for a period of not less than three (3) years, in order to enable inspection by the competent officers upon request.
This Notification shall take effect from 27 January 2026.
