Ad guidelines must be followed by private jab providers
COVID-19
Private hospitals offering to order Covid-19 vaccines for their customers are required to follows Public Health Ministry Regulation regarding Covid-19 vaccine advertising. The Ministry has issued a set of five regulations and these regulations must be followed by all private hospitals that offer vaccination services.
➢ The Covid-19 vaccine shall be registered and approved by the Food and Drug Administration of Thailand (“FDA”).
➢ Any advertisement for the Covid-19 vaccination shall be approved by the Department of Health and Service Support (“DHSS”) or the provincial department of public health office.
➢ If the providers fail to keep their commitments as advertised, consumers must be given a full refund.
➢ Customers should be appropriately informed about the time of importation and the arrival of the vaccines.
➢ The following text must be included in all vaccine provider advertisements: “The government provides free Covid-19 vaccines to all people” and “Ordering a Covid-19 vaccine through this private hospital is an alternative service that you must pay for yourself.”
These regulations are intended to protect individuals from inaccurate information, as well as giving vaccination providers with a fair competition in order for all to maintain a reasonable pricing level and, more significantly, to have a high-quality product according to the Deputy Director-General of the DHSS. Some advertisements already published by private hospitals have been suspended by the DHSS since they may cause public confusion due to a lack of information about the product as it has not yet been approved by the FDA.
