Bangkok, 15 September 2025 – The Pheu Thai Party has established a special committee to explore amending Chapter 15 of Thailand’s constitution. The proposed change aims to enable either a constitution drafting assembly or a parliamentary committee to oversee the amendment process, following a recent Constitutional Court ruling on the procedure.
The court ruled that any drafting of a new constitution must undergo three referendums, with the first two possibly held simultaneously—effectively blocking the option of directly electing a constitutional assembly. Pheu Thai respects this decision and plans to propose a roadmap that “best reflects the people’s will,”.
