Revenue Department Launches D-VAT & SBT: A New Digital Platform for Value-Added Tax Services System

On 1 September 2025, the Thai Revenue Department launched the new “D-VAT & SBT” system, a fully digital platform designed to modernize services related to Value Added Tax (VAT) and Specific Business Tax (SBT). The system consolidates all key processes—registration, data changes, filing applications, submitting tax returns, refund consideration, and refund issuance—into one integrated, end-to-end service.

Developed with a Taxpayer Centric vision, D-VAT & SBT aims to make tax administration easier, faster, and more secure. The Revenue Department applied Design Thinking to better understand taxpayer needs and address problems with the old system, while using Agile Methodology to ensure flexibility and continuous improvement. Special attention was given to user experience and interface design (UX/UI), with input from sample user groups who tested the platform and provided feedback to simplify procedures and reduce complexity.

The system allows taxpayers to manage VAT and SBT obligations conveniently from anywhere, anytime, on any device, helping to save time and resources. Beyond improving efficiency, the launch demonstrates the department’s commitment to digital transformation and innovation. It represents a significant milestone not only in enhancing tax administration but also in creating better overall experience for both businesses and tax officials.
